Self-love

Breathe light in, breathe out love.

Breathe light in, breathe out love.

A while ago, I read that you cannot show love to others if you have never experienced love for yourself. Love in its full form. One of the most important forms of love is the internal love you have for yourself – self-love. A quality we all think we know but do not really understand the depths of. Self-love is an internal peace with yourself. A genuine comfort with your whole being. That, even with a society with ridiculous standards, you still rate yourself above par. Self-love is accepting your whole being in its totality, even if you are different and knowing that you are worthy of everything great. Self-love is the freedom from the darkness of the outside world. The outside world that is broken and filled with hate. But this hate did not stem from nowhere. This hate is stemmed from the very individuals who give it out. Contrary to popular belief, hate is not the opposite of love. In the same way darkness is the absence of light, hate is the absence of love. This hate produces all the brokenness in people and, like a cycle, these broken people produce broken results. Fire consumes them. The same fire that brings those who experience self-love light and warmth, is a thing to be feared for them, like a sort of evil. These people are around us and it affects us all because we are all connected somehow. No one should hate themselves. Do you know that, just like love, that reciprocates to others? Love gives out love. Hate gives out hate. I am of a belief that whatever we feed into the universe, will be produced back to us in a similar form. So the more we all give out love, the more love we will experience. I say “experience love” a lot here because self-love is a continuous journey that we experience physically, emotionally and spiritually. We need more conversations about ‘love’. Love in its purest form. Because everything stems from it or lack of it. It is up to us all to share this love with those who need it most, in the hope that they too will find it within themselves and spread it to others.
